Sabroe launched the first in the Rotatune range of screw compressors in 1999. Ever since then, Sabroe has continued to focus on maximising the efficiency that Rotatune screw compressors can achieve, reducing energy costs and limiting environmental impact.
In 2002, Sabroe released a complete range of reciprocating compressors with a standard Rotatune option, thus extending the scope of the Rotatune concept to cover 4 screw and 18 reciprocating compressor packages.
The success of the Sabroe Rotatune variable-speed concept means that these compressor designs are now used in a wide range of applications. Experience has led to further improvements in the design, including the special Sabroe control system based on optimised load-sharing principles (both with Rotatune and conventional compressors) and protection against cold, humid and dusty environments.
Specifically designed to automatically match output to demand, Rotatune screw compressors reduce energy costs by up to 30% compared with traditional screw compressors.
Unlike conventional fixed-speed compressors, Rotatune models use an advanced frequency converter to run a high-speed motor at variable speed. The electronic stepless speed control (17–100 Hz and 1000–6000 rpm) results in up to 30% reductions in energy costs by providing major improvements in part-load efficiency.
Rotatune compressors are ideally suited for both small installations, where the compressor deals with the load alone, and larger multi-compressor systems, where the Rotatune can handle load variations in a highly efficient manner.
With Rotatune compressor packages, start-up is also more efficient, because the gradual build-up of speed eliminates current peaks, prevents heat build-up and reduces mechanical wear.
